Journalism
I am a journalist and the founder of Europe Street News, a website and a newsletter offering a European perspective on the changing relation between the UK and the European Union. Whereas media tend to cover European affairs through a national angle, Europe Street looks at major developments in Europe from a continental perspective and with a focus on society.
I also contribute to specialist publications writing primarily about energy, climate change and international affairs.
My articles have been published in The Guardian, PR Week and the blog of the World Economic Forum among others. I have been a regular contributor to Sun & Wind Energy, the oldest publication of the renewable energy industry in Germany, and kept a blog on alternative economic indicators on the Huffington Post. In Italy, I wrote for the newspaper La Repubblica.
Communications
With 15 years of experience in media and public affairs across Europe, China and Africa, I also provide communications consultancy services.
In the past I was head of communications at the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) in Brussels and Beijing, where I managed international teams focusing on European policies and Chinese investment in Africa. In addition to working in political capitals, I have guided reporting missions to some of the most remote areas of the planet – the Sahel, the Congo Basin and the Tibetan Plateau. These have led to groundbreaking stories, including a series of articles published in China on the environmental and social impacts of Chinese investment in Africa.
Prior to WWF, I was a press officer at the European Parliament, where I covered constitutional affairs.
As a consultant, I have worked with Save the Children West and Central Africa, The Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research (TNO), Climate Strategies, the European Coalition for Energy Savings, British Overseas NGOs for Development (BOND), WWF, Agrer and other independent consultancies.
I also present at events on international affairs and multicultural communications.
This website contains a selection of articles and projects I have delivered.
Languages
My working languages are English, French and Italian. I have a basic understanding of Spanish and a survival level of Mandarin.
