BIOGRAPHY

Hello. I am Claudia Delpero. I am the founder and editor of Europe Street News, a news agency specialised in the European Union, citizens’ rights and the environment. Our mission is to cover EU debates, decisions and laws that affect most closely people’s lives. We also work with other publishers to develop their editorial projects in these areas. More information about our services are available here.

Europe Street News builds on more than two decades of experience in media and public affairs across Europe, China and Africa.

After starting as a journalist in Italy, my home country, I worked as a press officer at the European Parliament in Brussels, where I covered constitutional affairs. I also worked as head of communications at the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) in Brussels and Beijing, ensuring the international media coverage of issues related to the environment, energy and climate change. In these roles, I took part in reporting missions to the Tibetan Plateau and the Congo Basin, writing about the consequences of climate change and deforestation.

After ten years in Brussels and three in China, I moved to London and returned to the media. I have written for a variety of publications in the UK, Italy, Germany, France and the Netherlands. This includes regular contributions to ENDS Europe, a news service on EU environmental affairs. News stories also featured in The Guardian, La Repubblica, the blog of the World Economic Forum, PR Week, and Eastwest, an Italian magazine on geopolitics.

Europe Street News was born in 2016 in the aftermath of the UK’s EU referendum.

I work in English, Italian and French and I am competent in Spanish. My specialties and keen interests are editorial strategies, new publishing initiatives, cross-border teams, policy analysis, and – of course – writing.
